The burial ceremony for the remains of 30 Chinese People’s Volunteers soldiers who lost their lives during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-53) was held on Saturday in Shenyang, Liaoning province.

On Friday, the remains of these fallen soldiers were returned from South Korea to Shenyang, transported by a Y-20 strategic transport plane of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force.

The ceremony began at 10 am on Saturday. With the honor guards of the PLA standing watch, soldiers marched in unison, escorting the coffins of the 30 volunteer martyrs into the memorial square of the volunteer martyrs’ cemetery in Shenyang. The national anthem was played and sung.

Pei Jinjia, the minister of Veterans Affairs, delivered the eulogy. All attendees bowed three times to the remains of the martyrs, and 27 honor guards fired 12 gunshots in succession, paying high respect to the martyrs.

Over 300 people, including representatives from central and local governments, the military, veterans, families of the fallen soldiers, and local residents, gathered at the ceremony to pay tribute.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the volunteer soldiers’ participation in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953), which lasted two years and nine months. During the war, the volunteer soldiers sacrificed over 197,000 lives.

For 12 consecutive years, China has repatriated the remains of 1,011 volunteer martyrs from South Korea, bringing these heroes back to their homeland.
